Celebration of the Life of Simon van der Heym
Dear Friends, Many of you have called or emailed to ask when a memorial service for Simon would be held. Being of Jewish heritage, his large family and circle of friends observed a traditional three day Shiva for Simon in Toronto. I wanted to honor his life in some way here but remembered that it was his wish not to have a formal service. In honoring his wishes I have felt a void as I needed the support, love and hugs from those of you who have become my friends. Many people have also asked what they could do for me. I have a plan which would make me so happy and I also feel Simon would be pleased with it. Please come and join me for an informal gathering at The Landings Racquetball Club on Saturday, July 22nd at 6:00 PM. Ladies, I would be honored to accept your help. Please bring your favorite hors d'oeuvres - enough for at least eight people to share. Gentlemen, if you would be so kind as to bring enough wine to share some with others. For those of you who would prefer something other than water or wine please bring the drink of your choice. With your help I will be able to accommodate as many of you as are available and would like to join me. I would like to take a few minutes to share some of Simon's life with you. Other than that we will celebrate him by gathering to renew our friendships. As this is within a gated community you must register - as usual so that I will have a list of those attending to provide to the gate. I so look forward to seeing each of you. Sherry
